Welcome to our home TANZANIA – EAST AFRICA
...bringing travellers up close to Tanzania’s most amazing attractions and enable them to experience authentic cultures combining nature, scenery, folklore, art and adventure sports in expeditionary safaris...

Our mission statement:
To provide travelers with a rewarding safari experience whilst simultaneously unlocking the power of ecotourism to benefit marginalized communities and assist disadvantaged individuals. Tanzania is a land of enormous variety and stunning beauty. Ecotourism - Africa is very conscious of this thus making it mainly focused on creating and supporting sustainable ways of living in harmony with the environment, with wildlife and between communities. It has done so by educating the community, offering employment to the locals as tour guides and much more hence increasing awareness of direct gains generated by wildlife and the ecology at large. We are therefore proud to be associated with nature!

Services:
Adventure and Involvement
The primary focus of all our activities is guest participation and discovering. We break the barriers between being a passenger on your safari vehicle and participating as a crew member, between hiking behind a guide and being an explorer.

Ndarakwai camp
WEST KILIMANJARO

Honouring the principles of ecotourism. A success story of land and wildlife rehabilitation set at 4,200 feet in the midst of an 11,000 acre privately-owned game reserve in west Kilimanjaro. With about 70 mammal species and over 350 bird species in a combination of high long grass plains and acacia savannah, a stay at Ndarakwai camp is a great addition to any safari itinerary. Perfect place for those who want to be active, letting the car behind and go hiking, riding horses across the bush, and even jogging, all in an area where there is plenty of wildlife and stunning scenery.

HORSE SAFARI  – CROSS COUNTRY – JUNPING – DRESSAGE

An ecological and friendly way in which a human can traverse the bush and visit local villages is on horseback. The speed at which a horse walks is perfect for hiking alongside wildlife and the sensitivity of the equines makes them ideal partners.

Horse Riding Safaris / Fly Camping:
We can organize horse riding safaris of several days (1 – 9+ nights) from Ndarakwai, towards the Great Rift Valley of northern Tanzania.  A light camp is built by our staff and moved daily.

Chuo cha Farasi is now permanently based at Ndarakwai camp– West Kilimanjaro and operates both day rides from Ndarakwai tented camp and multiple day riding safaris with a mobile camp. To experience a horse safari where your camp will be moved daily is an authentic experience. Galloping alongside a herd of wildebeest, zebras and giraffes as they race across the open plains is a long life dream for many riders over the world. Chuo cha Farasi offers you the chance to make of such a dream a reality, riding on thoroughbred and appaloosa horse’s well schooled, professional equipment and the luxury of miles and miles of unspoiled countryside in where to ride freely.

SAFARI LETTERS & PHOTO ALBUMS

On October 28th my first big trip on my own is about to begin. I’m traveling to Tanzania for five weeks, where I’ll spend most of my time at Ndarakwai Ranch in west Kilimanjaro, taking part in a volunteering program at Chuo cha Farasi. My work will consist of the general maintenance of the stud farm and the physical training of the horses. From there, several safaris are arranged to national parks in the Northern circuit and to the coast in the East. The last three days at Ndarakwai are reserved for a safari in the Kilimanjaro area... but this time on horseback!
